This series consists of lists, from the office of the county clerk to the office of the Secretary of State, naming the corporations that filed annual reports, in the office of the clerk of the counties which the company transacted its business, for the year 1876. The lists simply give the name of the court and the corporation that filed a report. Arranged alphabetically by county.

Early commissions were recorded by the secretary of the Colony of New York. Chapter 12 of the Laws of 1778 appointed the secretary of state the clerk of the Council of Appointment. The 1821 state constitution abolished the council, and its powers were transferred to the governor.
